Stock Market Close— Nifty ends above 8450



Sensex up 148 pts, Nifty ends above 8450; SBI drags 3%
The market ended with good gains supported by infra, oil, IT and pharma stocks. The Sensex was up 148.15 points or 0.5 percent at 27957.50 and the Nifty ended 37.95 points or 0.4 percent at 8458.95. About 1205 shares have advanced, 1515 shares declined, and 160 shares are unchanged.
HDFC, TCS, Sun Pharma, ONGC and L&T were top gainers in the Sensex. Amogn the losers are SBI, Hindalco, Wipro, Axis Bank and Tata Power.

Stock Market Open—Britannia Zoom11 %



Sensex, Nifty open flat; Britannia zooms 11%, ONGC gains 2%
The market has opened flat once again. The Sensex is up 48.57 points at 27857.92, and the Nifty is up 11.50 points at 8432.50. About 293 shares have advanced, 130 shares declined, and 66 shares are unchanged.
ONGC, GAIL, SBI, M&M and Coal India are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Bajaj Auto, NTPC, Hindalco, Bharti Airtel and Wipro.
Britannia is up 11 percent following a strong March quarter results. The Indian rupee opened with marginal gain of 6 paise at 63.58 per dollar against previous close of 63.64.

Stock Market Closing Update Live



Nifty ends at 8421, Sensex flat; Bajaj Auto up 7%, ITC weak
The market ended on a tepid note. The Sensex ended down 27.86 points or  at 27809.35 and the Nifty slipped 2.25 points at 8421.00. About 1180 shares advanced, 1513 shares declined and 182 shares were unchanged. Tata Steel ended with 5 percent loss. Vedanta fell 3 percent while Cipla, ICICI Bank and ITC were major laggards. Bajaj Auto was up 7 percent while Coal India, Axis Bank, L&T and HUL were gainers.

Sensex, Nifty flat; Tata Steel dips 4%, SBI & Coal India up
The market has opened flat as the Sensex is up 53.47 points at 27890.68. The Nifty is up 11.25 points at 8434.50. About 320 shares have advanced, 126 shares declined, and 68 shares are unchanged. Tata Steel tanks 4 percent after it posted a very disappointing March quarter results. Bajaj Auto, Hero, Vedanta and Tata Power are other losers in the Sensex. Gainers are Coal India, SBI, M&M, ONGC and Axis Bank. 
The Indian rupee gained in the early trade. It has opened higher by 9 paise at 63.73 per dollar versus 63.82 Wednesday. Dollar hit a three-week high against the euro, extending a rebound rally supported by European Central Bank plans to front-load its bond buying program in a move to keep interest rates low. The dollar index holds above the 95 mark.

Stock Market Close –Sensex up 192pts



Nifty ends at 8423, Sensex up 192pts on IT & bank support
After a strong day, the market ended with handsome gains. The Sensex ended up 191.68 points or 0.7 percent at 27837.21 and the Nifty was up 57.60 points or 0.7 percent at 8423.25. About 1362 shares advanced, 1336 shares declined, and 190 shares were unchanged.
IT and bank stocks supported indices. Tata Power, TCS, HDFC twins and Wipro were top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, BHEL, Hindalco and Axis Bank.
