Stock Market ends 473 points up; will it be a crash or boom on Budget Day?

The nerves before Budget day are clearly on the right side for the bourses with Sensex rallying nearly 500 points on Friday. With Sebi deciding to allow trading on Saturday, the question running on most broker minds is if the markets will pay dir dirt on the Centre's biggest day.
According to experts, volatility will remain extremely high as changes announced in the Budget will either have a positive or a negative impact on investor sentiment, which will define the trend.
The Sensex settled the day at 29,220.12, up 473.47 points. The broader 50-share Nifty closed at 8,844.60, up 160.75 points.

Sensex climbs over 200 points, Nifty reclaims 8,750

The market has opened March series on a positive note. The Nifty is up 45.65 points at 8729.50. The Sensex is up 202.12 points or 0.7 percent at 28948.77. About 375 shares have advanced, 120 shares declined, and 110 shares are unchanged.

 Tata Power, L&T, Tata Motors, Sesa Sterlite and SBI are top gainers whle NTPC, ITC and TCS are among the losers in the Sensex.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 11 paise at 61.86 per dollar on Friday against previous day's closing value of 61.75 a dollar.

Sensex ends 261 points down; Nifty below 8700

The Nifty ended below psychological 8,700-mark on the last day of February series expiry as traders booked profits ahead of the annual Budget.
Shares of railways related companies closed on a weak note as the Rail Budget presented by Minister Suresh Prabhu failed to boost sentiments.
The government's move to hike freight rates on bulk commodities, at a time when commodities prices are lower, also hurt the markets.
The 50-share index ended at 8,683.85, down 83.40 points or 0.95 per cent. It touched a high of 8,786.05 and a low of 8,669.85 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Sensex was at 28,746.65, down 261.34 points or 0.90 per cent. It touched a high of 29,069.13 and a low of 28,693.82 in trade today.

Sensex slips below 29000| ahead of Rail Budget 2015| Nifty tests 8750

Sensex, Nifty flat; rail stocks dip ahead of Prabhu's speech
The market has opened flat on February F&O expiry and Railway Budget day. The Sensex is up 27.01 points or at 29035.00 and the Nifty is up 11.75 points at 8779.00. About 371 shares have advanced, 126 shares declined, and 111 shares are unchanged.

Sesa Sterlite, NTPC, ICICI Bank, ONGC and GAIL are top gainers while Infosys, BHEL, Tata Power, Coal India and Dr Reddy's Labs are among the losers in the Sensex.

All rail stocks are under pressure as Suresh Prabhu prepares to read out Railway Budget at 12 pm today.

The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 61.93 per dollar on Thursday against previous day's closing value of 61.97 a dollar.

Stock Market Closes In Green—Sensex, Nifty end flat

Late sell drags the market sharply. The Sensex ended up 3.33 points at 29007.99 and the Nifty was up 5.15 points at 8767.25. About 1234 shares have advanced, 1659 shares declined and 201 shares are unchanged.

Tata Steel, Tata Power, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma and BHEL were among the losers. Gainers were HDFC, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Wipro and ITC.
