Stock Market Opening Bell




The BSE benchmark Sensex fell over 150 points in the morning deals on the back of selling in IT and FMCG stocks.
The 50-share Nifty was trading below its psychological level of 8,250 on the back of losses in TCS, ITC, Infosys, L&T and Bharti Airtel.
The Indian benchmark indices have been facing the heat of selling pressure since quite some time now. The Sensex has fallen over 1,800 points in the last nine trading sessions while the Nifty is down 900 points (10 per cent) from its peak in March 2015.
Meanwhile, IT and FMCG stocks were among the worst hit in the morning deals. The BSE IT index fell 0.6 per cent on the back of losses in TCS, HCL Technologies, Wipro and Infosys.
Shares of Bharti Airtel fell over 1 per cent to Rs 391 after the company said that its net profit for the January-March quarter profit rose 30.5 per cent to Rs 1,255 crore, buoyed by a robust customer growth and rise in mobile data revenue.

Stock Market Made Strong Closing



The market made a strong closing. The Sensex ended up 219.39 points or 0.8 percent at 27396.38 and the Nifty was up 71.80 points or 0.9 percent at 8285.60.  About 1650 shares advanced, 1086 shares declined and 146 shares were unchanged.
Banks made a superb comeback led by ICICI Bank (up 8 percent), Axis Bank and SBI (both up 2 percent). Maruti, BHEL, NTPC and Tata Motors are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were ITC, Coal India, Infoys, Reliance and HUL.

Stock Market Open in Negative Terrain



Nifty breaks 8200, Sensex in red; ICICI up 3%, Bharti drags
The market has opened in negative terrain as the Nifty breaks the 8200-level. The 50-share index is down 25.95 points at 8187.85. The Sensex is up 10.10 points at 27187.09.  About 217 shares have advanced, 226 shares declined, and 79 shares are unchanged. Bharti, Cipla, Vedanta, M&M and Coal India are major losers while Maruti, ICICI, HDFC, ONGC and Tata Power are top gainers in the Sensex. 

The Indian rupee has opened with marginal gains, up 13 paise at 63.35 per dollar against previous day's closing value of 63.48 a dollar.

Stock Market Closing Bell



Dragged sharply by oil & gas, pharma, FMCG and banking stocks the market ended with severe losses. The Sensex closed down 260.95 points or 0.9 percent at 27176.99 and the Nifty ended at 8213.80, down 91.45 points or 1 percent at 8213.80. About 667 shares have advanced, 2063 shares declined, and 144 shares are unchanged.
SBI, Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddy's Labs, BHEL and HDFC fell around 3 percent each. Maruti gained over 3 percent after posting firm March quarter results while Vedanta, Wipro, Bajaj Auto and Tata Motors were top gainers in the Sensex.
BSE Midcap index slipped over 2 percent from previous close.

Stock Market Down Selling Pressure on Market



Nifty drifts below 8250, Sensex slips; SBI falls, ITC up
Selling pressure mounts on the market. The Nifty is down 74.10 points or 0.9 prcent at 8231.15 as the the 50-share index is below its 200-day moving average for the first time in nearly 15 months. The Sensex is down 190.69 points or 0.7 percent at 27247.25. About 432 shares have advanced, 1719 shares declined, and 123 shares are unchanged.
Dr Reddy's Labs, Cipla, BHEL, Sun Pharma and SBI are major losers in the Sensex. Among the gainers are NTPC, Vedanta, ITC, Tata Motors and Bharti Airtel.
Asian shares scaled seven-year highs following stellar earnings from a few US hi-tech giants, but investors were cautious ahead of central bank meetings this week in the US and Japan and on deadlock in creditors' talks with Greece. Red-hot mainland Chinese shares soared, with Shanghai composite index rising 2.1 percent to seven-year highs on hopes of more monetary stimulus and launch of infrastructure projects linked to China's "Modern Silk Road" plan.
