Sensex up 283 pts, Nifty ends at 8175; Reliance, ONGC gain
The market ended on a higher note. The Sensex was up 283.17 points or 1 percent at 27115.83 and the Nifty was up 83.05 points or 1 percent at 8174.60. About 1634 shares advanced, 1099 shares declined and 157 shares were unchanged.

Nifty ends below 8450, Sensex flat; Sun Pharma plunges 9%
The market has ended flat ahead of RBI monetary policy review tomorrow. The Sensex was up 20.55 points at 27848.99 and the Nifty was down 0.25 points at 8433.40. About 1223 shares advanced, 1516 shares declined, and 166 shares were unchanged.

 Reliance, L&T, Maruti, HUL and Cipla were top gainers while Sun Pharma, Bharti, Tata Motors, ONGC and HDFC Bank were major laggards in the Sensex.

Stock Market Closing Bell

Sensex ends 112 pts down, Nifty below 8350; BHEL jumps 5%
The market ended at lower levels. The Sensex was down 112.47 points or 0.4 percent at 27531.41 and the Nifty was down 30.90 points or 0.4 percent at 8339.35. About 1176 shares have advanced, 1482 shares declined, and 175 shares are unchanged. 

 After beating estimates by its March quarter results, BHEL ended with 5 percent gains. Coal India, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti and Bajaj Auto are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are ONGC, Vedanta, Tata Motors, NTPC and Reliance.

Stock Market Made Strong Closing

The market made a strong closing. The Sensex ended up 219.39 points or 0.8 percent at 27396.38 and the Nifty was up 71.80 points or 0.9 percent at 8285.60.  About 1650 shares advanced, 1086 shares declined and 146 shares were unchanged.

Banks made a superb comeback led by ICICI Bank (up 8 percent), Axis Bank and SBI (both up 2 percent). Maruti, BHEL, NTPC and Tata Motors are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were ITC, Coal India, Infoys, Reliance and HUL.

Stock Market Closing Bell

Sensex crashes 556 pts, Nifty slips 1.8%; Reliance falls 4%

The Sensex is down 555.89 points or 1.9 percent at 27886.21 and the Nifty is down 157.90 points or 1.8 percent at 8448.10. About 897 shares have advanced, 1951 shares declined, and 155 shares are unchanged.

Reliance lost 5 percent and Hero Motocorp fell 4 percent. Other laggards were HDFC; Cipla and M&M. Top gainers are ICICI Bank and Sun Pharma.

Stock Market Close Flat—Reliance Up

The market has seen consolidation on Friday after rising for last five consecutive sessions on short covering. The Sensex fell 5.83 points to 28879.38 and the Nifty gained 2.05 points at 8780.35.

However, the broader markets remained favourite for buyers as the

BSE Midcap gained 0.4 percent and Smallcap rallied 1.1 percent. About 1641 shares have advanced, 1181 shares declined, and 173 shares are unchanged.

Index heavyweight Reliance Industries gained 1 percent today, continuing upmove for the fourth consecutive session. The stock rallied 10 percent in four days.  

Shares of Idea Cellular, Sesa Sterlite, NMDC, IDFC, SBI and Dr Reddy's Labs supported the market, up 1-4.5 percent. However, Cipla, Hindalco, HDFC Bank, HDFC, ICICI Bank, Lupin and Tech Mahindra fell 1-3 percent.
