Stock Market Down Sharply on Broad Based Selling



Nifty sinks below 8050, Sensex falls sharply; Banks drag

After massive cuts yesterday, the market has again opened at 2015 lows. The Sensex is down 93.07 points at 26624.30 and the Nifty is down 40.50 points at 8056.50. About 294 shares have advanced, 487 shares declined, and 83 shares are unchanged.
Cipla, Dr Reddy's Labs, GAIL, Axis Bank and Wipro are major laggards while TCS, NTPC, Coal India, ONGC and Infosys are top gainers in the Sensex.
Indian rupee has opened at its lowest level in 2015, down 24 paise to 63.78 a dollar against previous day's closing value of 63.54 per dollar.

Stock Market Biggest Fall sinks 723 points

Blood on Dalal-Street: Sensex dives 723 pts, Nifty ends below 8100
The Sensex ended 722.77 points or 2.6 percent down at 26717.37, and the Nifty plunged 227.80 points or 2.7 percent at 8097.00. About 599 shares have advanced, 2143 shares declined, and 158 shares were unchanged. 
Bharti Airtel was the only gainer in the Sensex. BHEL slipped 6 percent, followed by ICICI Bank, L&T, Maruti and NTPC.

Sensex cracks 400 pts, Nifty breaks 8200; banks drag
The Sensex is down 403.97 points or 1.5 percent at 27036.17, and the Nifty is down 124.65 points or 1.5 percent at 8200.15.  About 497 shares have advanced, 1105 shares declined, and 112 shares are unchanged. Bank Nifty leads the fall. 9:40 am Market check: The market is spiraling down as the Sensex is down 214.85 points or 0.8 percent at 27225.29, and the Nifty is down 70.45 points or 0.8 percent at 8254.35.
About 635 shares have advanced, 877 shares declined, and 101 shares are unchanged.
 Cipla, BHEL, NTPC, Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank are major laggards in the Sensex. Bharti Airtel is up 3 percent while Hindalco, Tata Steel and M&M are top gainers.

Indian Stock Market Opening Bell



After a stellar rally, the market has opened on a weak note. The Sensex is down 36.13 points at 27454.4 and the Nifty is down 14.35 points at 8317.60. About 424 shares have advanced, 253 shares declined, and 82 shares are unchanged.
 TCS, ONGC, Wipro, Sun Pharma and Tata Motors are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel, Coal India, ITC and Dr Reddy's Labs.
The Indian rupee has opened lower after a long weekend. The currency fell to 63.54 per dollar, down 12 basis points compared to 63.42 a dollar on Thursday.

Stock Market Opening Bell




The BSE benchmark Sensex fell over 150 points in the morning deals on the back of selling in IT and FMCG stocks.
The 50-share Nifty was trading below its psychological level of 8,250 on the back of losses in TCS, ITC, Infosys, L&T and Bharti Airtel.
The Indian benchmark indices have been facing the heat of selling pressure since quite some time now. The Sensex has fallen over 1,800 points in the last nine trading sessions while the Nifty is down 900 points (10 per cent) from its peak in March 2015.
Meanwhile, IT and FMCG stocks were among the worst hit in the morning deals. The BSE IT index fell 0.6 per cent on the back of losses in TCS, HCL Technologies, Wipro and Infosys.
Shares of Bharti Airtel fell over 1 per cent to Rs 391 after the company said that its net profit for the January-March quarter profit rose 30.5 per cent to Rs 1,255 crore, buoyed by a robust customer growth and rise in mobile data revenue.
