Sensex up 100 pts, Nifty holds 8150; Sun Pharma, ICICI gain
The market gained further on Thursday morning with the Sensex rising 118.08 points to 26958.58 and the Nifty climbing 28.30 points to 8152.75. About 512 shares have advanced, 102 shares declined, and 66 shares are unchanged on the BSE.  

 ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, Vedanta, Axis Bank, Hero Motocorp and Ambuja Cements gained 1-1.5 percent while Tata Motors, Tata Steel, NTPC, HDFC Bank, GAIL, Cairn India, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and Dr Reddy's Labs were top losers in early trade.

Meanwhile, the Indian economy has improved on all fronts and the government's coffers are ringing. The indirect tax collections jumped by a whopping 40 percent in just the first 2 months of this fiscal and the reserve bank made the highest ever quarterly reserves of over USD 30 billion in just the first three months of this calendar year.

 The Indian rupee has opened higher at 63.81 per dollar today against previous day's closing value of 63.84 a dollar.

Sensex rises over 200 pts, Nifty above 8050; BHEL, SBI gain

The market has opened flat but soon gained strength. The Sensex is up 127.64 points or 0.5 percent at 26608.89 and the Nifty is up 39.40 points or 0.5 percent at 8061.80. US index provider MSCI has out on hold including China A shares in one of its key benchmarks, but expects them to be included once outstanding market accessibility issues are resolved. About 541 shares have advanced, 142 shares declined, and 64 shares are unchanged. This may be seen as positive for India. According to Kotak, India could have seen selling worth USD 3.8 billion on China-A shares inclusion.

Tata Power, BHEL, Bharti, SBI and Axis Bank are top gainers while Tata Motors, Cipla and GAIL are among laggards in the Sensex.

 Globally, the US markets ended flat following recovery in bond yields and as investors await clearer signals on the timing of a US interest rate rise. European market closed lower while Asia is mixed in morning trade.

Nifty below 8100, Sensex dips over 100pts; Sun TV sinks 26%
The market has kickstarted the week on a flat note. The Sensex is down 22.23 points at 26746.26, and the Nifty is down 6.45 points at 8108.25. About 416 shares have advanced, 195 shares declined, and 81 shares are unchanged.

Coal India, Tata Steel, Maruti, Vedanta and Tata Power are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Tata Motors, M&M, HUL, Cipla and HDFC.

Sun TV is down 20 percent as the Home Ministry has struck down an Information and Broadcasting Ministry’s proposal for giving security clearance to 33 television channels of Kalanithi Maran-promoted Sun TV Network, a move that could lead to cancellation of their broadcasting licence.

The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade. It has opened lower by 30 paise at 64.05 per dollar against 63.75 in Friday's session.

Sensex, Nifty end flat; Coal India up 4%, Tata Motors dips

After a volatile ride, the market ended flat again. The Sensex was down 44.93 points at 26768.49 and the Nifty slipped 15.95 points at 8114.70. About 1374 shares advanced, 1300 shares declined and 161 shares were unchanged.

Coal India jumped 4 percent, followed by GAIL, NTPC, ONGC and Sun Pharma were top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC and Cipla.

Sensex, Nifty open lower on weak global cues; Coal India up
The market opened marginally lower on last day of the week following weakness across the globe. The Sensex fell 45.58 points to 26767.84 and the Nifty declined 15.80 points to 8114.85. About 223 shares have advanced, 330 shares declined, and 73 shares are unchanged on the BSE.  

Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, ITC, Vedanta, HCL Technologies, Bosch and ACC lost 0.8-1.4 percent while Coal India topped the buying list on Sensex, up 3 percent. Bharti Airtel, GAIL, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma, Idea Cellular, Lupin and BPCL gained 0.4-1.4 percent.

Nestle tanked 4 percent as Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat and Uttarakhand joined Delhi to impose a temporary ban on Maggi noodles.

The Indian rupee has opened flat at 64.01 per dollar today against previous day's closing value of 64 a dollar. The currency immediately showed some recovery in early trade, up 6 paise at 63.94 a dollar.

Nifty breaks 8200, Sensex slips over 100 pts; ITC falls 2%

The Sensex is down 109.75 points or 0.4 percent at 27078.63 and the Nifty is down 36.95 points or 0.4 percent at 8199.50. About 348 shares have advanced, 392 shares declined, and 72 shares are unchanged. ITC is down 2 percent while ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Tata Motors and Sun Pharma are down 1-2 percent.

About 257 shares have advanced, 162 shares declined, and 71 shares are unchanged.

Wipro, BHEL, Hindalco, Tata Steel and Infosys are top gainers in the Sensex.

Among the losers are ITC, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti and Coal India.
