The market is surging ahead as the Sensex is up 249.41 points or 0.9 percent at 27894.94 and the Nifty is up 72.05 points or 0.8 percent at 8437.70. About 1265 shares have advanced, 451 shares declined, and 117 shares are unchanged.

Tata Power, ICICI Bank, TCS, Infosys and HDFC are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Tata Steel, Hindalco and Coal India.

After volatility seeping in the market in last hour of trade, the market ended lower. The Sensex was down 41.77 points at 27645.53 and the Nifty was down 8 points or 0.1 percent at 8365.65. About 1443 shares advanced, 1303 shares declined, and 159 shares were unchanged.

 Hero MotoCorp and Wipro were up 2 percent while Vedanta, Infosys and Tata Steel were top gainers. On the losing, HDFC, Tata Motors, ONGC, Bajaj Auto and HUL.

Sensex gains 363pts, Nifty ends above 8350; DRL, HDFC surge
Driven by late upsurge, the market ended with handsome gains. The Sensex was up 363.30 points or 1.3 percent at 27687.30 and the Nifty closed up 111.30 points or 1.3 percent at 8373.65. Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Power, GAIL, HDFC and Bajaj Auto were top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were Coal India, Hero Motocorp, NTPC, Tata Steel and Tata Motors.
