The market ended on a dismal note as the Sensex was down 245.40 points or 0.9 percent at 26523.09. The Nifty slipped 70.55 points or 0.9 percent at 8044.15. About 788 shares advanced, 1850 shares declined, and 176 shares were unchanged. ADVERTISING Tata Power, Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, M&M and TCS were top gainers while Vedanta, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Reliance and Hero MotoCorp were laggards in the Sensex.

Stock Market Closing News



Sensex, Nifty end flat; Coal India up 4%, Tata Motors dips
After a volatile ride, the market ended flat again. The Sensex was down 44.93 points at 26768.49 and the Nifty slipped 15.95 points at 8114.70. About 1374 shares advanced, 1300 shares declined and 161 shares were unchanged.
Coal India jumped 4 percent, followed by GAIL, NTPC, ONGC and Sun Pharma were top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC and Cipla.

Sensex, Nifty open lower on weak global cues; Coal India up
The market opened marginally lower on last day of the week following weakness across the globe. The Sensex fell 45.58 points to 26767.84 and the Nifty declined 15.80 points to 8114.85. About 223 shares have advanced, 330 shares declined, and 73 shares are unchanged on the BSE.  
Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, ITC, Vedanta, HCL Technologies, Bosch and ACC lost 0.8-1.4 percent while Coal India topped the buying list on Sensex, up 3 percent. Bharti Airtel, GAIL, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma, Idea Cellular, Lupin and BPCL gained 0.4-1.4 percent.
Nestle tanked 4 percent as Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat and Uttarakhand joined Delhi to impose a temporary ban on Maggi noodles.
The Indian rupee has opened flat at 64.01 per dollar today against previous day's closing value of 64 a dollar. The currency immediately showed some recovery in early trade, up 6 paise at 63.94 a dollar.

Stock Market Opening Bell



Nifty breaks 8200, Sensex slips over 100 pts; ITC falls 2%
The Sensex is down 109.75 points or 0.4 percent at 27078.63 and the Nifty is down 36.95 points or 0.4 percent at 8199.50. About 348 shares have advanced, 392 shares declined, and 72 shares are unchanged. ITC is down 2 percent while ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Tata Motors and Sun Pharma are down 1-2 percent.
About 257 shares have advanced, 162 shares declined, and 71 shares are unchanged.
Wipro, BHEL, Hindalco, Tata Steel and Infosys are top gainers in the Sensex.
Among the losers are ITC, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti and Coal India.
 The Indian rupee opened with marginal gains at 63.78 per dollar on Wednesday versus 63.82 Tuesday

Stock Market Closing Bell




Sensex falls 661 pts post RBI policy, monsoon forecast cut
Equity benchmarks shed more than 2 percent after teh Reserve Bank of India raised inflation forecast for January 2016 and Met Department cut monsoon forecast.The Sensex was down 660.61 points or 2.37 percent at 27188.38, and the Nifty fell 196.95 points or 2.34 percent to 8236.45.

About 828 shares have advanced, 1860 shares declined, and 145 shares are unchanged.
State Bank of India, Axis Bank, Hindalco Industries, ITC, Hero Motocorp and IndusInd Bank topped the selling list on Nifty, down 4 percent. Lupin and Bharti Airtel bucked the trend, up marginally.
