Sensex, Nifty open firm; SBI gains 2%, BHEL drags 5%

The market has opened higher. The Sensex is up 71.07 points at 28876.17 and the Nifty is up 29.95 points at 8741.50. About 464 shares have advanced, 144 shares declined, and 136 shares are unchanged.
The S&P BSE Sensex raised as much as 110 points in trade on Friday on positive macro economic data and global cues. The rally in the index was led by gains in ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, SBI and L&T. 
SBI is up 2 percent while ICICI Bank, Hero, Dr Reddy's Labs, and Sun Pharma. BHEL is down 5 percent and Coal India, ONGC, Infosys and M&M are losers in the Sensex.
Reviving hopes of manufacturing recovery, industrial production grew at five-month high of 3.8 per cent in November last year, but retail inflation inched up to 5 per cent in December.
 The Indian rupee gained in early trade. It rose 18 paise to 62.13 per dollar against 62.31 Thursday. The dollar drops across the board after weaker-than-expected US economic data.

Stock Market Closing Bell by Money CapitalHeight

The late trade rally (after a consolidation) on Thursday helped the equity benchmarks gain 1 percent ahead of January CPI and December industrial output data (to be announced later today). Upside in global markets post Russia ceasfire also supported the market.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 271.13 points to 28805.10, aided by banking & financials, capital goods and auto stocks. The 50-share NSE Nifty closed above the 8700 level, up 84.15 points at 8711.55. The broader markets outperformed benchmarks again.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rallied more than 1 percent. Advancing shares outnumbered declining ones on the Bombay Stock Exchange by a ratio of 1617 to 1230.

Indian Share Market Closing News Highlights



The market remained higher in trade for the second consecutive session with the 50-share NSE Nifty closing above 8600 level, led by bank stocks again.
The index climbed 61.85 points to 8627.40 while the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 178.35 points to 28533.97. The broader markets outperformed benchmarks with the BSE Midcap and Small cap indices rising 1.5 percent each.

The market has opened with some gains as the Nifty is above 8600-mark. The 50-share index is up 45.85 points at 8611.40. The Sensex is up 140.97 points at 28496.59. About 743 shares have advanced, 198 shares declined, and 127 shares are unchanged.
 SBI is up 2 percent while Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, L&T and ICICI Bank are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Bharti Airtel, Infosys, ONGC, GAIL and Cipla.

Indian Stock Market Closing News



The market ended with some gains. The Sensex was up 128.23 points at 28355.62 and the Nifty gained 39.20 points at 8565.55. About 1349 shares advanced, 1383 shares declined, and 228 shares were unchanged.
Tata Motors and ICICI Bank jumped 4 percent while SBI, M&M and Tata Steel were up 3 percent. TCS fell 3 percent while HDFC, Sun Parma, Reliance and HUL were laggards in the Sensex.
