The Sensex is up 343.73 points or 1.3 percent at 27053.86, and the Nifty is up 110.75 points or 1.4 percent at 8140.55. About 3 shares have advanced, 0 shares declined, and 0 shares are unchanged.

 Banks are up including SBI and ICICI Bank (3 percent gains each). Other gainers in the Sensex are Tata Power, Sesa Sterlite and Tata Steel. Among the losers are ITC, HUL and Wipro.

The Indian rupee gained in the early trade. It has opened higher by 26 paise at 63.35 per dollar against 63.61 Wednesday

Even after trying hard to chase the bears away, the market ended on a lower note. The Sensex was down 71.31 points at 26710.13 while the Nifty slips 37.80 points at 8029.80. About 1038 shares have advanced, 1780 shares declined, and 97 shares are unchanged.

 Hero Moto, ITC, Cipla, Bharti Airtel and Sun Pharma were major losers in the Sensex. Among the gainers were Sesa Sterlite, SBI, ONGC, Hindalco and Tata Steel.

Today’s Stock Trading Tips –Nifty below 8050, Sensex weak;

The market has opened on a weak note. The Sensex is down 50.39 points at 26731.05, and the Nifty slips 26.40 points at 8041.20. About 263 shares have advanced, 331 shares declined, and 23 shares are unchanged. 

M&M, Dr Reddy's Labs, Bharti Airtel, Cipla and Hindalco are among the laggards. The gainers include Tata Steel, NTPC, Tata Motors, Reliance and BHEL.

 The Indian rupee slipped further in the early trade. It has opened lower by 24 paise at 63.77 per dollar versus 63.53 Tuesday.

Sensex crashes 538pts, Nifty ends below 8100

Bloods spills on Dalal Street as bears go on a rampage. After a heavy selling day, the Sensex ended with a loss of 538 points or 2 percent at 26781.44. The Nifty closed below 8100-level, down 152.00 points or 1.8 percent at 8067.60. About 566 shares have advanced, 2312 shares declined, and 86 shares are unchanged.

Midcaps & smallcaps were slaughtered while banking stocks too were hammered down out of shape. Bank Nifty shed 3 percent while metals fell 4 percent. Only IT index was in the green with a gain of 2 percent.

 Sesa Sterlite, Dr Reddy's Labs, Hindalco, SBI and Tata Power were among the laggards. TCS, Infosys, Bharti Airtel were gainers in the Sensex.
