Stock Market Evening News—Sensex Falls 100 Points; ITC, Metals Hit



The market slipped again in late trade. The Sensex lost 158.86 points to 27266.87 and the Nifty fell 45.75 points to 8253.65. Metals extended losses; Sesa Sterlite tanked 7.5 percent and Hindalco Industries plunged 7 percent. Tata Steel shed nearly 4 percent and ITC lost 3.5 percent.
About 1143 shares have advanced, 1649 shares declined, and 325 shares are unchanged on the BSE.

Live Stock Market News & Trading Tips



The market has opened flat. The S&P BSE Sensex started on a cautious note on Wednesday following muted trend seen in other Asian markets. The index was trading in a narrow range, weighed down by losses in ITC, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Sesa Sterlite.
Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also turned choppy after a positive start, weighed down by losses in banks, metal and FMCG stocks.
The Sensex is up 16.24 points 27441.97 and the Nifty is up 7.85 points at 8307.25. About 398 shares have advanced, 165 shares declined, and 273 shares are unchanged.
TCS, Tata Motors, BHEL, Wipro and Hero are top gainers while ITC, ICICI Bank, Sesa Sterlite, Dr Reddy's Labs and Hindalco are among the laggards.
 The Indian rupee has gained further ground. It has opened higher by 6 paise at 62.08 per dollar versus 62.14 Tuesday.

The market ended lower. The Sensex ended down 159.54 points at 27425.73 and the Nifty slipped 23.60 points at 8299.40. About 1389 shares have advanced, 1535 shares declined, and 332 shares were unchanged.

Morning Stock Market News & Tips



It is another flat opening at Dalal Street. The Sensex is up 48.57 points at 27633.84 and the Nifty is up 23.15 points at 8346.15. About 465 shares have advanced, 133 shares declined, and 276 shares are unchanged.
Indian markets edged higher on Tuesday with sentiment getting a boost after global oil prices falling to six year low. The declining oil price has led to expectations of RBI rate cut early this year.

Stock Market Closing News— Nifty ends above 8330; HUL & Infosys up



The market has ended with smart gains. The Sensex is up 126.89 points at 27585.27 and the Nifty is up 38.50 points at 8323.00.
Traders will closely watch the retail inflation print, due to be released at 1130 GMT, which is likely to determine the central bank's stance during its monetary policy review on Feb. 3.
A poll showed the consumer price index accelerating to 5.4 percent in December from 4.4 percent in November, but still within the central bank's comfort zone.
The benchmark BSE index closed 0.46 percent higher at 27,585.27
 About 1651 shares have advanced, 1258 shares declined, and 373 shares are unchanged.
 HUL gained 4 percent, followed by  L&T, Infosys, HDFC and BHEL. Coal India lost 4 percent while Hindalco, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp.
