Stock Market Opening News Live Updates— Nifty reclaims 8600, Sensex firm;

After a long weekend, the market opened on a positive note on Monday. The Sensex rose 101.77 points to 28361.91 and the Nifty advanced 29.55 points to 8615.80. About 519 shares have advanced, 118 shares declined, and 93 shares are unchanged on the BSE.  

 Sun Pharma climbed 2 percent as it settled litigation for generic Angiomax with The Medicines Company, US. Tata Motors also rallied 2 percent as the stock went ex-rights today.

ONGC, Dr Reddy's Labs, Cipla and NTPC were other prominent gainers, up over 1 percent whereas banking & financials and technology stocks were under pressure on profit booking. The Indian rupee gained by 40 paise in the early trade on Monday. It has opened at 62.10 per dollar against 62.50 Tuesday.

Live Sensex Update – Sensex reclaims 29000; insurance stocks rally

The market rallied further in early trade on Friday with the Sensex reclaiming 29000-mark on positive global cues and after the Insurance Bill passed in Rajya Sabha. The Sensex is up 182.32 points or 0.6 percent at 29112.73, and the Nifty is up 48.85 points or 0.6 percent at 8824.85. About 638 shares have advanced, 94 shares declined, and 83 shares are unchanged.

Max India and Reliance Capital surged as foreign ownership limit in insurance sector has been hiked to 49 percent from 26 percent. HDFC, ICICI Bank, Sesa Sterlite, L&T and Tata Power are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Tata Motors, Reliance and Infosys.

The Indian rupee opened flat at 62.49 per dollar today against previous day's closing value of versus 62.50 a dollar.

Stock Market Closing Bell News

Market closing: It as another volatile day at Dalal Street. The Sensex was down 50.70 points at 28659.17 and the Nifty slipped 12.10 points at 8699.95. About 1199 shares advanced, 1638 shares declined and 200 shares were unchanged.

The euro dived to its lowest since early 2003 against the dollar on Wednesday, dragging other European currencies with it on the back of the huge differences developing in market interest rates between Europe and the United States.

 In a dollar rally that began last July the single currency has lost around a quarter of its value, and there is little sign of that bottoming out. Deutsche Bank on Tuesday forecast a fall to 85 US cents by the end of 2017.
