Sensex falls over 300 pts, Nifty below 8250; banks crack

 The Sensex is down 311.48 points or 1.1 percent at 27195.82 and the Nifty is down 113.95 points or 1.4 percent at 8211.30.About 332 shares have advanced, 465 shares declined, and 81 shares are unchanged.
GAIL, Coal India, Dr Reddy's Labs, Wipro and ITC are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Tata Motors, L&T, Vedanta, M&M and SBI. 
The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade. It has opened lower by 26 paise at 64.11 per dollar versus 63.85 Monday. US dollar rose against the euro on renewed worries over a Greek exit from the Eurozone. The dollar index rises to 95-mark.

Stock Market Closing Bell



Sensex gains 402pts, Nifty ends at 8325; SBI, Vedanta up 5%

Bulls ended the day with a bang. The Sensex ended up 401.91 points or 1.5 percent at 27507.30 and the Nifty was up 133.75 points or 1.6 percent at 8325.25. About 1744 shares advanced, 989 shares declined and 152 shares were unchanged. 

SBI and Vedanta were up over 5 percent while Hero, Tata Motors and Tata Steel were lead gainers while HUL, ITC, Wipro and Bharti Airtel were losers in the Sensex.

Stock Market Closing Bell



The market ended a volatile session on a weak note. The Sensex was down 170.45 points or 0.6 percent at 27225.93, and the Nifty slipped 45.85 points or 0.5 percent at 8239.75. About 1526 shares  advanced, 1186 shares declined and 157 shares were unchanged. Bharti Airtel fell 4 percent while ITC, HDFC, Vedanta and Reliance were major laggards in the Sensex.
Axis Bank gained 5 percent. Among the top gainers were Wipro, GAIL, Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank.

Stock Market Opening Bell




The BSE benchmark Sensex fell over 150 points in the morning deals on the back of selling in IT and FMCG stocks.
The 50-share Nifty was trading below its psychological level of 8,250 on the back of losses in TCS, ITC, Infosys, L&T and Bharti Airtel.
The Indian benchmark indices have been facing the heat of selling pressure since quite some time now. The Sensex has fallen over 1,800 points in the last nine trading sessions while the Nifty is down 900 points (10 per cent) from its peak in March 2015.
Meanwhile, IT and FMCG stocks were among the worst hit in the morning deals. The BSE IT index fell 0.6 per cent on the back of losses in TCS, HCL Technologies, Wipro and Infosys.
Shares of Bharti Airtel fell over 1 per cent to Rs 391 after the company said that its net profit for the January-March quarter profit rose 30.5 per cent to Rs 1,255 crore, buoyed by a robust customer growth and rise in mobile data revenue.
