Sensex, Nifty open lower on weak global cues; Coal India up
The market opened marginally lower on last day of the week following weakness across the globe. The Sensex fell 45.58 points to 26767.84 and the Nifty declined 15.80 points to 8114.85. About 223 shares have advanced, 330 shares declined, and 73 shares are unchanged on the BSE.  

Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, ITC, Vedanta, HCL Technologies, Bosch and ACC lost 0.8-1.4 percent while Coal India topped the buying list on Sensex, up 3 percent. Bharti Airtel, GAIL, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma, Idea Cellular, Lupin and BPCL gained 0.4-1.4 percent.

Nestle tanked 4 percent as Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat and Uttarakhand joined Delhi to impose a temporary ban on Maggi noodles.

The Indian rupee has opened flat at 64.01 per dollar today against previous day's closing value of 64 a dollar. The currency immediately showed some recovery in early trade, up 6 paise at 63.94 a dollar.

Stock Market Opening Bell

Sensex falls 150 pts, Nifty below 8300; Tata Motors dips 6%

The market has opened on a weak note dragged by poor March quarter corporate earnings of key companies. The Sensex is down 138.45 points or 0.5 percent at 27392.96, and the Nifty is down 53.05 points or 0.6 percent at 8286.30. About 195 shares have advanced, 448 shares declined, and 70 shares are unchanged. Tata Motors tanks 6 percent while Dr Reddy's Labs, Wipro, M&M and Vedanta are major laggrds. BHEL is up 1 percent.Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, ITC and ONGC are top gainers in the Sensex. 

The Indian rupee has breached 64 level in opening trade, down 7 paise to 64.05 a dollar from 63.98 percent in previous session.

Stock Market Open in Red— SBI fall 2-3 % , IT gains

Sensex, Nifty open in red; ITC & SBI fall 2-3%, IT gains

The market has opened in red as the Sensex is down 98.35 points at 27859.15. The Nifty is down 20.80 points at 8438.15. About 298 shares have advanced, 176 shares declined, and 80 shares are unchanged.

Wipro is up 3 percent while Sun Pharma, Infosys, Dr Reddy's Labs and Cipla are top gainers in the Sensex. ITC is down over 2 percent. SBI, Vedanta, Tata Power and Bajaj Auto are among the major laggards.

The Indian rupee has opened lower at 63.62 a dollar, down 10 paise compared to Friday's closing value of 63.52 per dollar.

Stock Market Close with 363 point up

Sensex gains 363pts, Nifty ends above 8350; DRL, HDFC surge
Driven by late upsurge, the market ended with handsome gains. The Sensex was up 363.30 points or 1.3 percent at 27687.30 and the Nifty closed up 111.30 points or 1.3 percent at 8373.65. About 1668 shares advanced, 1052 shares declined, and 173 shares were unchanged. Oil stocks gained most on fuel price hike over the weekend. Banks, infra, pharma and FMCG stocks were up. Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Power, GAIL, HDFC and Bajaj Auto were top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were Coal India, Hero Motocorp, NTPC, Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

The market opened on positive note driven by strong global cues. The Sensex was up 140.39 points or 0.52 percent at 27346.45, and the Nifty up 46.35 points or 0.56 percent at 8270.55.
