Morning Stock Market News &Trading Tips

The BSE Sensex and Nifty turned flat after opening at fresh record highs on positive global cues.

The Sensex rose as much as 178 points to a fresh 52-week high of 29,456.63, while the 50-share Nifty gained over 40 points to a record high of 8,878.20.

BHEL, Cipla, Axis Bank, Tata Motors, Tata Power and ICICI Bank were top gainers in early trade, up 1-2 percent. Maruti Suzuki climbed 0.87 percent ahead of Q3 earnings. However, Hindalco Industries lost 2.59 percent. Dr Reddy's Labs, Coal India, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto, Ambuja Cements, Sesa Sterlite and Kotak Mahindra Bank were marginally in red.

 The Indian rupee opened at 61.50 a dollar on Tuesday, down 8 paise compared to Friday's closing value of 61.42 per dollar.

Nifty ends above 8,800 on ECB stimulus

The market rallied for the seventh consecutive session on Friday, spiking nearly 2000 points on the Sensex (in seven days).

Benchmark share indices scaled record highs for the fourth straight session, amid a rallly in global stocks, after the European Central Bank announced higher-than-expected monetary stimulus measures to boost the economy in the euro zone.

The 30-share Sensex ended up 273 points at 29,279 and the 50-share Nifty surged 74 points at 8,836. The Sensex and the Nifty touched an intra-day high of 29,409 and 8,866 mark, respectively.

About 1140 shares have advanced, 1803 shares declined, and 253 shares are unchanged on the BSE.

 Cipla, L&T, HDFC Bank, HUL, M&M and Sesa Sterlite gained 2-3 percent whereas PNB, GAIL, BHEL, HCL Technologies and ONGC were down 1-2.7 percent. We provide all services through SMS and Instant Messenger.

The market is celebrating RBI’s surprise rate cut in style. The Sensex is up 566.65 points or 2 percent at 27913.47, after gaining almost 600 points in opening.

The Nifty is up 147.65 points or 1.7 percent at 8425.20. About 574 shares have advanced, 84 shares declined, and 228 shares are unchanged. All banks are up while SBI gained 5 percent.

The BSE Sensex and Nifty surged today by nearly 2 per cent after the Reserve Bank of India in a surprise move cut its main lending rate (repo rate) by 25 basis points.
The Sensex gained as much as 600 points to 27,947 and the 50-share Nifty jumped over 2 per cent above the 8,450 mark.
Rate-sensitive stocks like banks, auto, realty surged, pushing the benchmark indices higher.

The Reserve Bank of India surprised the market by cutting repo rate by 25 basis points to 7.75 percent from 8 percent, with immediate effect, ahead of its policy review on February 3.

The Indian rupee gained 30 paise in the early trade. It has opened at 61.88 per dollar versus 62.18 Wednesday.
