Nifty ends above 8700, Sensex down 135 pts

The market ended on lower note. The Sensex was down 134.91 points at 28709.87 and the Nifty slipped 44.70 points at 8712.05. About 1261 shares have advanced, 1584 shares declined, and 200 shares are unchanged.

The Sensex is down 142.66 points or 0.5 percent at 28702.12, and the Nifty down 44.95 points or 0.5 percent at 8711.80. About 1228 shares have advanced, 1592 shares declined, and 201 shares are unchanged.

The S&P BSE Sensex started on a cautious note in trade on Tuesday, led by losses in Infosys, HDFC, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank BSE 0.90 %.
Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also came under pressure and was trading below its crucial psychological level of 8750 levels, weighed down by losses in IT and banking stocks.
the 30-share index was at 28813.62, down 32 points or 0.11 per cent. It touched a high of 28,949.11 and a low of 28,791.58 in trade today.
The Nifty was at 8747.70 down 10 points or 0.10 per cent. It touched a high of 8771.35 and a low of 8734.75 in trade today.
he S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.45 per cent and BSE S&P Small cap Index edged higher by 0.53 per cent.
Bharti Airtel (up 2.4 per cent), BHEL (up 2 per cent), Cipla (up 1.5 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.06 per cent) and Coal India (up 1.05 per cent) were among the major Sensex gainers.
The Indian rupee slipped further on Tuesday. It has opened lower by 25 paise at 62.80 per dollar versus 62.55 Monday.

Sensex nosedives 604 pts, Nifty skids 181pts

It is a bloody Monday on Dalal Street. The bulls fell prey to profit booking. The Sensex ended down 604.17 points or 2 percent at 28844.78. The Nifty also skid 181.00 points or 2 percent at 8756.75. About 995 shares advanced, 1882 shares declined and 178 shares were unchanged.

Sesa Sterlite, Hindalco, GAIL, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank were among laggards. HUL gained over 3 percent while Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma and Maruti were top gainers in the Sensex.

Stock Market Slipping Away – Sensex tanks 300 pts

The market is slipping away under selling pressure. The Sensex is down 363.81 points or 1 percent at 29085.14 and the Nifty is down 119.70 points or 1 percent at 8818.05. About 615 shares have advanced, 1129 shares declined, and 164 shares are unchanged
The Nifty shed 95.15 points or 1.06 percent to 8842.60. About 315 shares have advanced, 634 shares declined, and 113 shares are unchanged on the BSE.

TCS, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC, Infosys, Sun Pharma, L&T, SBI, ONGC, M&M and Sesa Sterlite lost 1-3 percent while Dr Reddy's Labs, Reliance Industries and Coal India gained. The Indian rupee slipped 45 paise at 62.61 per dollar against Thursday's closing value of 62.16 a dollar.

After a volatile day, the Sensex ended up 68.22 points at 29448.95, and the Nifty was up 15.10 points at 8937.75. About 1417 shares have advanced, 1450 shares declined, and 190 shares are unchanged.
