Stock Market Down Selling Pressure on Market



Nifty drifts below 8250, Sensex slips; SBI falls, ITC up
Selling pressure mounts on the market. The Nifty is down 74.10 points or 0.9 prcent at 8231.15 as the the 50-share index is below its 200-day moving average for the first time in nearly 15 months. The Sensex is down 190.69 points or 0.7 percent at 27247.25. About 432 shares have advanced, 1719 shares declined, and 123 shares are unchanged.
Dr Reddy's Labs, Cipla, BHEL, Sun Pharma and SBI are major losers in the Sensex. Among the gainers are NTPC, Vedanta, ITC, Tata Motors and Bharti Airtel.
Asian shares scaled seven-year highs following stellar earnings from a few US hi-tech giants, but investors were cautious ahead of central bank meetings this week in the US and Japan and on deadlock in creditors' talks with Greece. Red-hot mainland Chinese shares soared, with Shanghai composite index rising 2.1 percent to seven-year highs on hopes of more monetary stimulus and launch of infrastructure projects linked to China's "Modern Silk Road" plan.

Stock Market Close Sensex down



Sensex tanks over 300 pts, Nifty below 8300 post Infosys Q4
 
The market has slipped further after Infosys announced lower-than-expected March quarter results. The Sensex is down 310.70 points or 1 percent at 27424.32 and the Nifty is down 102.65 points or 1 percent at 8295.65. 
 About 657 shares have advanced, 2014 shares declined, and 146 shares are unchanged.
Infosys is down over 5 percent while Cipla, Vedanta, HDFC and Hindalco are top losers. ITC is still down 2 percent, followed by ONGC, Maruti, Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto.

The market has opened on a flat note with a negative bias. The Sensex is down 25.38 points at 27709.64 and the Nifty is down 14.10 points at 8384.20. About 404 shares have advanced, 226 shares declined, and 89 shares are unchanged.
Infosys is up 1 percent ahead of announcing its March quarter results. Other gainers are ITC, Tata Motors, Reliance and Tata Steel. Among the losers are HDFC, GAIL, Axis Bank and HUL.
The Indian rupee has opened with marginal gains of 5 paise at 63.27 per dollar against previous day's close of 63.32.The dollar fell against most other major currencies, while the euro rose on waning fears of a Greek default.

Stock Market Closing Bell



After a choppy session, the market ended on lower levels. The Sensex was down 155.11 points or 0.6 percent at 27735.02 and the Nifty slipped 31.40 points or 0.4 percent at 8398.30. About 1370 shares have advanced, 1442 shares declined, and 155 shares are unchanged.
 Cement and pharma stocks were under pressure while a weak rupee also added pressure on the indices. Sun Pharma, SBI, Tata Motors, NTPC and Wipro were major laggards in the Sensex. Tata Steel remained top gainer, adding 5 percent at day's end. Other gainers were Coal India, Maruti, BHEL and Cipla.

Sensex, Nifty open strong; BHEL, HDFC Bank, TCS top gainers
The market has opened on a strong note.The Sensex is up 142.02 points or 0.5 percent at 28032.15 and the Nifty is up 48.50 points or 0.6 percent at 8478.20. About 395 shares have advanced, 67 shares declined, and 65 shares are unchanged.
BHEL, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma, TCS and Tata Steel are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Dr Reddy's Labs, GAIL, M&M and Bharti Airtel.
 The Indian rupee opened with marginal loss of 13 paise at 62.95 per dollar versus 62.82 Wednesday. The dollar edges upward after a 6.1 percent jump in US home sales data lifted expectations Federal Reserve policymakers may soon hike interest rates.

Stock Market Closing News



After a volatile session, the market has ended with handsome gains with major support by banks and capital goods stocks. The Sensex ended up 214.09 points or 0.8 percent at 27890.13, and the Day was up 51.95 points or 0.6 percent at 8429.70. About 1379 shares have advanced, 1379 shares declined, and 180 shares are unchanged.
Even after a weak monsoon forecast, HUL gained 4 percent. Other top gainers in the Sensex were Axis Bank, L&T, Hero and Dr Reddy's Labs. Wipro lost 6 percent post poor Q1FY16 guidance. ONGC, SBI, Hindalco and Infosys also slipped.
